Who is Grandma Celia?
Grandma Celia's Brown Sugar Cookies are from an old family recipe that has been passed down through the generations. My father’s mother, Grandma Celia, made these for her family. It has been said she even sold these during the Great Depression to raise money for her family. Passing the recipe to her three daughters-in-law, her three sons decided that the cookies my Mom made tasted just like Grandma’s. And so, she became the cookie baker for the family. I remember as a kid helping her make these for special occasions or for just visiting my Aunt and Uncle. Mom always brought 2 tins - one for the table and one for my Uncle to “stash” away.
Carrying on the Tradition
My name is Helen Roberts Schuckman and I’m continuing the tradition my Grandma Celia started by making her recipe for diamond-shaped brown sugar cookies. I have made these cookies for years, learning at my Mother’s side. Back in 2002 I opened a brick and mortar store in Hawthorne, NJ to sell fresh baked goods and other cafe items. A friend’s Dad tasted my cookies and brought me and my cookies to QVC. I was then on QVC twice sharing my Grandma’s legacy with the world.
